Zero-shot
Zero-shot is the ability of an AI model to perform a task or answer a question without any prior specific examples or training for that exact task.
How it works
It works by leveraging the broad, general knowledge a model has already learned from its massive training dataset. This matters because it allows AI to handle new, unseen requests instantly, making it highly flexible and efficient for users.
Examples
- 1.Asking a chatbot to translate a sentence into a language it was never explicitly taught to translate.
- 2.Requesting an image generator to create a picture of a 'giraffe wearing a spacesuit' without showing it any similar images first.
- 3.Having a language model summarize a complex legal document without providing it an example of a good summary.
