The 101 Plays Itself is a browser-based art project that turns a live Caltrans traffic camera on the US-101 in Studio City, Los Angeles into a generative musical instrument. Real-time traffic on the southbound 101 is translated into sound: every car that crosses a line on the footage plays a note, with the music generated live in your browser.
