Open Beta

An open beta is a public testing phase for a software product, where anyone can sign up to use it and provide feedback before its official launch.

How it works

It follows a closed beta and is used by developers to stress-test their software under real-world conditions with a large, diverse user group. This phase helps identify bugs, gauge user interest, and refine features based on broad feedback before the final release.

Examples

  • 1.A new AI image generator launching a free website where the public can create images and report issues.
  • 2.A productivity SaaS app releasing its mobile version to all app store users to test performance on different devices.
  • 3.A video game studio allowing pre-order customers and the general public to play the online multiplayer mode to test server stability.
