Best Alternatives to unscene in 2025
Unscene offers a fun way to pick a movie with friends by answering private cards and comparing choices. But if you're looking for different features or a fresh approach to group movie selection, consider these alternatives. Each has its own strengths, from swiping mechanics to AI-driven recommendations.
Netflix Party (Teleparty)
Best for synchronized watching with chat. While it doesn't help you pick a movie, it's the go-to for watching together remotely, complementing Unscene's planning phase.
Movie Night
A simple app that lets you and friends swipe through movies and find matches. It's similar to Unscene's comparison feature but with a Tinder-style interface.
Taste
Uses AI to recommend movies based on your taste and friends' preferences. It's great for discovering new films and making group decisions without the card-answering process.
Roulette
Randomly selects a movie from a curated list, adding spontaneity to movie nights. Ideal if you want to skip the decision-making and just watch.
Letterboxd
A social platform for film lovers to share reviews and lists. While not a decision-making tool, it's perfect for gathering movie ideas and seeing what friends recommend.
Plex
Offers a watch together feature and personalized recommendations. It's a full media server solution that also helps you decide what to watch with friends.
Discord
With bots like 'Movie Night' or 'Watch Together', Discord servers can replicate Unscene's social planning and even include voice chat for real-time discussion.
Unscene excels at making movie selection a social game, but alternatives like Netflix Party focus on the watching experience, while Taste and Movie Night offer different decision-making styles. Choose based on whether you need help picking, watching, or discussing films with friends.
