Best Alternatives to NotchPad in 2025
While NotchPad offers a unique notch-integrated, secure notepad and clipboard manager for Mac, users might seek alternatives for different feature sets, pricing models, or cross-platform compatibility. Some may prefer tools with more extensive note-taking capabilities, different organizational structures, or a focus purely on clipboard management without the notepad component.
Obsidian
A versatile writing app tailored to your thinking
A powerful, markdown-based knowledge base that stores all notes locally, making it a great alternative for users who prioritize deep linking and a graph-based note-taking system over a menu-bar notepad.
Paste
A sophisticated clipboard manager for Mac that excels in visual history and organization, offering a strong alternative if your primary need is advanced clipboard management without the integrated secure notepad.
Bear
A beautiful, focused writing app for notes and prose with tagging, offering a more full-featured and elegant writing environment compared to NotchPad's menu-bar utility, though with less emphasis on clipboard management.
Maccy
A free, open-source, and lightweight clipboard manager for macOS, providing a straightforward and efficient alternative for users who need core clipboard history without encryption or a notepad.
Reflect
Data visualization as a service
A note-taking app built for speed with a daily notes focus and end-to-end encryption, serving as an alternative for users who want a fast, networked thought process with strong privacy, but in a dedicated app window.
1Password
Primarily a password manager, its Secure Notes feature can serve as an alternative encrypted notepad, ideal for users who already manage sensitive data there and want to consolidate tools, though it lacks clipboard management.
Apple Notes
The built-in macOS and iOS app is a capable, free alternative for basic note-taking and checklist management with iCloud sync and optional locking, though it lacks advanced clipboard features and notch integration.
The best alternative depends on whether you prioritize clipboard history, advanced note-taking, or simplicity. For a secure, all-in-one menu bar utility, NotchPad is unique, but tools like Paste (clipboard) or Bear (notes) excel in their respective specialties.
