Best Alternatives to NotchDodo in 2025
NotchDodo transforms the MacBook notch into a dynamic dashboard, offering calendar, Pomodoro timer, music controls, file shelf, and Claude Code usage tracking. If you're looking for similar functionality or different approaches to utilizing the notch or menu bar, here are the best alternatives to NotchDodo.
NotchNook
NotchNook is a popular Mac app that turns the notch into an interactive hub with a file shelf, music player, calendar, and more. It offers a polished interface and extensive customization, though it uses a subscription model.
Dynamic Island for Mac
This app brings a Dynamic Island-style experience to Mac, displaying media controls, notifications, and system statuses around the notch. It's a good alternative for those who want a more iOS-like feel.
Alcove
Alcove provides a customizable notch area with widgets for time, weather, battery, and media controls. It's lightweight and offers a one-time purchase, similar to NotchDodo.
Notchmeister
Notchmeister adds visual effects and small utilities around the notch, such as a timer or visualizer. It's more of a fun add-on than a full dashboard, but it's free and open-source.
Bartender
Bartender is a menu bar organizer that helps declutter your Mac's menu bar. While it doesn't utilize the notch, it provides quick access to hidden menu items, which can complement or replace some dashboard functions.
One Switch
One Switch offers quick toggles for common Mac settings and tools from the menu bar. It's not notch-specific but provides fast access to utilities like dark mode, screen resolution, and Pomodoro timers.
iStat Menus
iStat Menus is a comprehensive system monitoring tool that displays CPU, memory, weather, and more in the menu bar. It's ideal for users who want detailed system stats rather than a notch dashboard.
While NotchDodo offers a unique one-time purchase model with no account required, alternatives like NotchNook and Alcove provide similar notch-based dashboards with different pricing and features. For those who prefer menu bar utilities, Bartender, One Switch, and iStat Menus are excellent choices. Evaluate your needs—whether you want a full notch dashboard, quick toggles, or system monitoring—to pick the best fit.
